National Drug Take Back Day – Watertown Event

Safely dispose of your unused medications!

Jefferson County's National Drug Take Back Day will be held on Saturday, October 25, from 9 a.m. to Noon at Watertown Walmart (1901 Market Way). This event is hosted by the City of Watertown Police Department in partnership with Jefferson County’s Solid Waste Program.

Proper disposal of medications helps prevent misuse and protects our water supply. Let’s keep our homes and community safe!

✅ What You Can Bring:

  • Prescription (controlled and non-controlled) and over-the-counter medications

  • Ointments, patches, non-aerosol sprays, inhalers, creams, vials

  • Pet medications

  • Vaping devices (no need to remove the battery)

🚫 What NOT to Bring:

  • Illegal drugs, needles/sharps, aerosol cans

  • Bio-hazardous materials (blood, bodily fluids)

  • Mercury thermometers, personal care products, household hazardous waste

Important Notes:

  • Solid medications should be placed in a sealable plastic bag (no need for original bottles)

  • Liquids, creams, and sprays must be in their original packaging

  • All items must be from households—no business waste accepted

The Jefferson County Drug Free Coalition will also be on-site with medication safety resources.
